hmmmm,

Some will say that we are blessed that we were born a part of the west, others say that we are cursed, that we dont really know what it is to give it all to follow christ. We sing it in our songs, that we will lay our lives down for Christ, that we will give it all. You know the songs, I do. But how far would you really be willing to go, how hard would it have to get before you start contemplating letting go. I’m not saying that our faith is of any less worth, in fact im not trying to say anything, I’m just processing a discussion that is going on around me, the first mornings teaching – kind of deep for the first conversation with a new aquaintence.
“Lord teach me to follow you” is a dangerous prayer, if you mean it there’s a fair chance He will take you places that will break you, thankfully He will be there to catch you, but you will break at some point, or again and again, but still, He will be there for you always.
Sitting in a freaking cold room (probbaly well below zero) on the plateu of Tibet is probbaly just a taste of what it means to do it tough, we are still kings in this world. We have passports from the west and an AMEX, we could hit the eject button at anypoint, this is a base line far above everyone who was born within a 200km+ radius of this place.
So, do we realise how much God loves us yet when we are so cozy and manage to do everything for ourselves, or does it take a time when things are out of our control for us to really appreciate the love God has for us. When was the last time you were truely grateful for the clean water than rund from your tap, or even the tap, me, this morning when I realized its cold hard word to pump it form a well each day, before that i dont think i really thought aout it enough to grasp the idea.
‘Dont chase suffereing, but will you stand in its midst and still praise God? Dont seek suffering but dont be affraid of it, dont run from it.’
It’s crazy to think of those that dont have food but will hike for 2 days to seek God at a gathering in Africa. Or those that after a freezing cold night without blankets will spend hours in prayer after waking up before collecting fuel to spark up a fire and get some warmth.

Do you crave God like that? To go to any means for him? To stand in the face of suffering and rejoice. I would like to, but I cant say that I do, yet. One day I hope I will be able to.
